Mental Health Impact of Gender-Based Violence Amid COVID-19 Pandemic: A Review

Gender-based violence (GBV) and poor mental health have received particular attention among healthcare professionals, policymakers, researchers amid the COVID-19 pandemic. This paper presents a review of available literature to understand dynamics GBV its impact in context COVID-19. Confinement control by abusive partners, social economic disruption, restricted access services were identified as main contributing factors GBV. The elaborates on contribution broader socioeconomic determinants well cultural societal victimization shaping placing specific populations or individuals more vulnerable position within society based their gender. Socioeconomic included status, education, migration racial, ethnic, gender-based minoritisation. Cultural are mostly related structural power discrepancies communication patterns.
